Meet Cailin

(she/her)

Cailin Marsden, LAc. is a Nationally Board Certified acupuncturist licensed to practice in the states of Washington and Wisconsin. Cailin completed her graduate studies and clinical internship with The Colorado School for Traditional Chinese Medicine, receiving her Master of Science in Acupuncture (M.S.Ac.) .

Approach

Cailin is a big believer in the body’s ability to orient toward health when given the right opportunities and supportive conditions. The path to wellness is unique to each person and she enjoys helping her patients address the underlying ‘patterns of disharmony’ impacting their health, together looking beneath the web of symptoms to address the root imbalances and getting folks to their goals with a trusted ally. Cailin’s passion for supporting people during periods of life transition fuels her work as an acupuncturist. She welcomes new patients with any array of wellness goals or health concerns and has expertise in treating:

  • acute and chronic pain

  • stress

  • reproductive health including fertility (for all bodies)

  • pregnancy and postpartum wellness

  • anxiety and depression

Feeling safe and welcomed is important when it comes to delving into the complexities of health. Cailin brings her careful listening and steadfast compassion to bear in each session with individuals of all identities and genders. She sees both adults as well as teenagers, with pediatric treatments available by request for those under the age of ten. With a focus on gentle needling techniques well-suited to sensitive individuals, Cailin’s acupuncture sessions offer a blend of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)  and Japanese treatment styles. Cupping, moxibustion, micro-current, trigger point therapy, gua sha and tui-na (Chinese style) massage are additional East Asian Medicine modalities Cailin weaves in when appropriate.

Supporting her patients outside of the clinic room furthers the healing that happens on the treatment table.  Cailin provides individualized lifestyle recommendations, longevity practices and nutritional counseling rooted in East Asian medicine so her patients can continue participating in their healing between acupuncture sessions. These recommendations are practical and attainable, often beginning simply with the foundations such as water quality and adequate hydration, sleep hygiene practices, breathing techniques, and regular physical movement.

It is the right of every individual to determine for themselves and with the advice of their physician whether and how to utilize vaccines in their own health plans, taking into account the complex mix of personal and community health risks and benefits, along with personally held values and beliefs.

Background

Cailin first became acquainted with acupuncture’s effectiveness while volunteering at a birth clinic in Indonesia after high school. Acupuncture patients sought care for everything from a sprained ankle to breech birth and cerebral palsy and left feeling more comfortable, with pronounced changes after regular visits. Her experience observing the clinic’s acupuncturist and midwives fueled her interests in health, culture, and wellness that continued throughout her undergraduate studies in Medical Anthropology, including conducting maternal health research in Nepal’s Himalayas. Before deciding to pursue her M.S. in Acupuncture, Cailin worked in the non-profit sector as a case manager where she empowered vulnerable families to thrive. Cailin is also a postpartum doula through the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA) and, while she is not currently available for postpartum doula services, her experience supporting new families in the early weeks and months after welcoming their newborn(s) greatly informs acupuncture work.

Cailin grew up in northern Italy and the foothills of Colorado, and has seized upon other opportunities to live, travel or work internationally since. Before moving to Seattle’s Eastside for her partner’s career in 2022, she offered acupuncture in Wisconsin as a member of a well-regarded Madison clinic known for its expertise in supporting natural, as well as IUI- and IVF-assisted conception and healthy pregnancies. Now calling the Pacific Northwest home, she resources herself with long hikes, culinary adventures, moments of stillness, and taking local weekend trips with her partner.
